Talk to Someone Who Gets It.

Andrew Abbott, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Physicians Invest

Most financial conversations for physicians start with someone trying to sell you something. This one starts with your questions. One-on-one strategy sessions with Andrew Abbott, former hedge fund managing partner and co-founder of Physicians Invest.

Questions

Common questions

Who is this for?

Physicians at any career stage: attendings deciding how to allocate compensation, fellows about to sign a contract, residents setting up the foundation, retired physicians thinking about distribution and estate. The most common situation is a physician 1-10 years into attending who has built decent assets but has never had a structured conversation about whether the strategy is working.

What's the difference between the intro call and the strategy session?

The intro is 15 minutes, free, designed to figure out whether a full session makes sense for you. We do not pitch on the intro. If a strategy session is not the right fit, we will say so. The strategy session is 60 minutes, $250, and is where the work happens. You bring questions; we bring analysis and an honest perspective. Sessions are backed by a 100% money-back guarantee.

What does a strategy session cover?

Whatever you want it to cover. Common topics include portfolio construction, tax optimization, student loan strategy, real estate analysis, contract review, and practice ownership decisions. The /consult page lists 14 example topics. Most sessions touch 2-3 of those domains because physician finance questions rarely sit in isolation.

How is this different from working with a CFP or wealth manager?

A CFP or wealth manager is typically compensated through assets under management (AUM), commissions on products they sell, or both. That compensation structure shapes every recommendation they make. Our consultations are flat-fee and one-off. We do not manage your money, sell you products, or earn anything from any decision you make. That makes us useful as a second opinion or as a one-time strategy check, and a poor fit if what you want is an ongoing portfolio manager. We will tell you when a CFP or RIA is the right next step.

Are you a fiduciary? Will you sell me products?

Physicians Invest is not a registered investment advisor (RIA). That means we cannot give personalized investment advice, recommend specific securities to buy or sell, or act in a fiduciary capacity. Everything in a session is educational. We do not sell any product, take commissions from any provider, or earn referral fees. If a session surfaces a question that requires advice from an RIA, CPA, or attorney, we will point you toward how to find a good one (and what to ask).

What do I need to prepare before the call?

The list of questions you want to work through. That is the only requirement. Sessions tend to be more efficient when relevant items (current account balances, recent tax return, benefits package documents) are sent ahead through email or a secure upload link. You can also bring them to the call if that is easier.

Will I get a written summary after the session?

Yes. Every strategy session is followed by a written summary of what we discussed and the concrete action items you can work on this week. It is sent within 48 hours of the session.

What if I just have one specific question I need answered?

The 15-minute intro is usually the right fit. If one focused question can be answered in that window without setup, we will answer it on the intro and not push you toward a paid session. If it requires more context (your tax bracket, your existing portfolio, your employer's plan documents), the strategy session is the right format.
